Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Nearly one in ten infants born in the United States are admitted to a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). For multiple births, that number rises to more than forty percent. While many admissions are due to preterm delivery, others result from low birth weight, birth defects, breathing or feeding challenges, infections, or other serious medical conditions.
There With Care supports Level III and IV NICU babies and their families as they navigate these critical and uncertain days. Families with a child in the NICU represent nearly half of those we serve. While each family’s needs are unique, NICU parents often spend long hours at the hospital, creating an urgent need for nutritional support, transportation assistance, and essential supplies for both the bedside caregiver and loved ones at home. There With Care also provides baby essentials and Baby Care Bags filled with newborn necessities—easing stress, reducing financial strain, and helping families feel supported during a challenging time.
Through every delivery, meal, and moment of care, we help families focus on what matters most—their child’s healing and their time together.
Families we support facing Neonatal ICU stays:

Adanez was delivered at 26 weeks, weighing one pound and measuring ten inches. Like many newborns this premature, he had multiple complications and has already faced numerous surgeries. At ten months old, Adanez is making steady progress but still remains in the NICU. The prolonged hospital stay has taken an emotional and financial toll on his family. Each day, his mom drives 45 minutes to be by his side—juggling the rising cost of gas, preparing for the essentials Adanez will need when he comes home, and facing the uncertainty of when she’ll be able to return to work. This is a family we serve.
Manny is a sweet baby born at just 24 weeks, facing a complex journey with a heart condition, one kidney, and other organ challenges. In his short life, he has already undergone multiple surgeries, including two on his heart. He will face a third surgery around age four and will ultimately need a heart transplant.
His mom remains steadfast by his side in the hospital, while also caring for her one- and two-year-old children at home. The constant commute to the hospital, coupled with the emotional and physical demands of caring for all her children, has been both exhausting and overwhelming. Yet through it all, she continues to meet each day with courage and love for her family. This is a family we serve.

Aaron was born at just 27 weeks and spent his first four months in the neonatal ICU. After a brief 24 hours at home, his breathing worsened, and he returned to the hospital, where he has now been for nearly ten months. Tests revealed pulmonary stenosis and pulmonary hypertension, and despite multiple procedures—including “ballooning” treatments and seven stents—his heart and lungs continue to struggle. His parents balance caring for Aaron and their six-year-old son, Hayden, while managing the financial and emotional toll of his ongoing hospital stay. There With Care has helped ease their burdens with groceries, gas, and rent assistance, allowing them to focus on their boys. Through it all, Aaron remains a joyful fighter, inspiring his family with his strength and smile every day. This is a family we serve.
