Organ Transplant
The diagnoses referred to There With Care include Pediatric Oncology, Trauma, Mental Health, NICU, and Organ Transplant. While our programs support each diagnosis, the nature of the Organ Transplant family’s path typically includes a lot of commuting to the hospital or to their home out of state, a need for alternate housing while extended hospital stays, and a sterile environment to limit risks of illness that would delay getting an organ should one become available. Transportation assistance, cleaning care bags, home supplies and nutritious food are all delivered with care to support their journey.
Families we support facing an organ tranplant:

Struen is three years old and next on the list for a heart transplant. Her mom stays by her side in the hospital, while her older brother and sister are miles away at home with their dad. Families like Struen’s face deep isolation, separation, and loneliness during a child’s critical illness. Often, one parent becomes the full-time caregiver, while the other manages the home and other children—if there are two parents at all. Expenses multiply, families are stretched across distances, and the emotional and financial toll can be overwhelming. This is a family we serve.
Adelynn is a brave little girl from Waterford, CA who, at just 5 years old, has faced unimaginable challenges. She is battling autoimmune hepatitis, cerebellar ataxia, diabetes mellitus type I, and Wolcott-Rallison syndrome. December 2024 marked a new chapter in her life when she was referred to There With Care. Recently, Adelynn underwent a life-changing liver transplant. Her parents, lovingly calling her Addy, are filled with hope and gratitude as they navigate this journey together. Despite the countless hospital visits and treatments, Addy’s spirit shines bright. This is a family we serve.

At just one year old, little Indigo is facing a challenge no child should have to endure—he needs a heart transplant. His devoted mother, a single parent, has put everything on hold to be by his side, leaving behind her home and job to ensure he gets the care he needs. Now staying at the Ronald McDonald House while they wait for a new heart, she is navigating an incredibly difficult time without a place to call home. With no income, the financial burden weighs heavily on her, making everyday essentials—like groceries—a struggle. The support she receives, including food, has been a lifeline, helping her focus on what matters most: Indigo’s health. This is a family we serve.
