"Crystal had her first heart surgery at four days old. During her second surgery, she coded in the O.R. and almost didn’t make it. We were flown to the hospital and found out she needed a heart transplant. Crystal was on a waitlist, and we waited for more than a year - 402 days. She was just so sick; she stayed in the ICU the entire time.
I never wanted to be without my car. I was always worried that if I didn't have my car, I wouldn't make it to the hospital on time if an emergency happened. Having gas in my car was one of the biggest things that helped me be prepared for that possibility."
