As Volunteer Director, Kelly oversees our team of Volunteer Coordinators, Group Coordinators, Group Leads, Volunteer Trainers and the Volunteer Associate, all of whom focus on recruiting and nurturing our 650 dedicated Volunteers and Interns who are so integral for us to serve our mission.
Kelly comes to There With Care with a background in Wellness and Education, and has extensive experience in project planning and volunteer recruitment and management. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Developmental Studies from the University of Alabama, her certification in Massage Therapy from Boulder College of Massage Therapy, and a Masters of Arts in Education with a focus on Bilingual and Special Education from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Through her studies at CU, Kelly became involved in service learning and a mentor with Boulder County Partners. Realizing her capacity to advocate for others, Kelly was inspired to work with adolescents, and took a job as a middle school educator working with ESL students. In her years as an educator, Kelly founded a service club that promoted social awareness of middle school students through community and school philanthropic acts. She was involved with School Improvement Teams, helping to set annual test score and achievement goals, and she served on such committees as the Parent Engagement Network, The School Accountability Committee and the District Accountability Committee.
Taking a break from her teaching career to start a family, Kelly combined her skills to start and manage a private practice providing education in health and wellness. She harnessed this time to become more involved with her community through volunteerism. She has been active with the YMCA of Boulder Valley, participating in the annual Strong Kid’s Campaign, networking with community members and business owners to provide scholarship funds for youth.
Her heart for service and a desire to make an impact have motivated her to enthusiastically lead the Volunteer Team to build relationships and connect others with There With Care. Kelly feels she has “landed her dream job” as part of the There With Care Family and is grateful to be serving families facing critical illness.
